Future of Grind4E

Dungeoneers,

Last night I couldn't sleep much, and when I did I dreamed of lime margaritas for some reason. But, what was on my mind was what I wanted to do next with this play-by-blog. I think the new year coming might be a great time to change it up a little. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this, so feel free to leave a comment below.

I was planning on wrapping up Grind4E within a room or two. What comes after will be even more exciting!

I would like to run one of the following modules...
  • Revenge of the Iron Lich (saveversusdeath.com)
  • Crucible of the Gods (saveversusdeath.com)
  • Gallery of the Hate Blossom (saveversusdeath.com)
  • Murder of the Maelstrom Queen (dungeonoracle.com)
I think any of these adventures would shine in the play-by-blog format. These adventures are intended to be played in a single 4-hour session, not the week-by-week installment kind. So there would be a definitive start and end to them. And each one is certainly VERY challenging.
I can only do one play-by-blog at a time, so in order to run one of the above, Grind4E must come to an end. But, you guys are actually pretty close to accomplishing your goal of rescuing Jonar Redhammer (who? lol). We could wrap this up in one more chamber. Or, you might feel like you've had your fill of Grind4E and want to move on NOW.

Let me know what you think,
MilwaukeeJoe

P.S.: Just after I posted this, I went to tweet about it. I found something incredible in my twitter feed. Several buddies tweeted that our site was mentioned by Tracey Hurley (Sarah Darkmagic) in a recent article on the Wizards website!

All I can say is, "Holy F*#k!" MilwaukeeJoe is officially stunned (save ends).

Chamber 6-9: Sanguinary

Mika's Astral Seal continues to erode the defenses of the Hydralith. He scans the jail cell for any clues as to what allows the three-headed beast to continue regenerating. Whatever it is, it's beyond his understanding.

Joryn's switch to the Fiend-Cursed Dagger isn't doing what he had hoped. The Hydralith bobs and weaves it's many heads, looking for an opening in the cavalier's defenses. In nothing else, though, Joryn's actions distract the beast long enough for Ambrose to escape unscathed from the jail cell.

Outside the cell, Ambrose performs a scan similar to Mika's attempt. However, Ambrose's senses extend into the realm of magic. It is on this level of perception that Ambrose notices a magical aura coming from across the room.

Behind you in the lower area, mounted above the northern door is a fragment of a massive crystal ball. It's roughly the shape of a shield. There seems to be a blurry image within, but the details are very difficult to make out.

It is this very crystal fragment that is giving off the aura. As Ambrose focuses, he can sense the image inside moving...

Travok utters, "Quick lads! How do we do this?? Maybe we should retreat with the grace of Mordian!!"

Chamber 6-8: Sanguinary

[Travok]Travok's healing hands erase the pain of Smudge's wounds. As the hydralith attempts to take advantage of the open Travok left, the paladin instantly closes the gap and destroys all three heads in a single blow of his mighty hammer!

Tech: Travok down to 8 surges. Smudge up to 18 hp! Critical hit on the hydralith, so I gave the free healing to Ambrose. Ambrose is up once again, and at 7 hp. Due to the Astral Seal from Mika, Travok also gains healing, bringing him up to 18 hp.
[Joryn]
Joryn leaps to his feet. "We have to get Ambrose out of here! I'm going to try and hold off this creature. Figure out how we get out of here, try some doors or something."
Just as one of the Hydralith's heads regrows, Joryn slices it to bits with his sword. Yet, the other heads continue to regenerate.

[Hydralith]
Mika once again feels the tugging sensation of the Hydralith attempting to teleport him, but his mind is focused like steel and he keeps his place.
Hearing Joryn speak of the doors, he spies something on the dead body of Aramagan from his vantage point above him... the glint of metal on his belt... a ring of keys!
OOC: Two heads regenerate this round, but none have the capability to attack this time. How will you solve this chamber?
Good Luck,
MilwaukeeJoe
